A number of self-supporting programs are designated with an asterisk and are labeled “*PrePay.”Participants in these programs must register and pay for the program a minimum of five days in advance of the start date. Some programs will list a registration deadline date.

Decorative Painting, All Skill Levels (Tote-ally Cute Bags)-NB   *NEW!

Everyone is “going green” using canvas tote bags for shopping, so why not paint your own? Two tote-ally cute and funky canvas bags will be completed. Class will feature uses in brushes, paint and wet-on-wet techniques as they apply to painting on fabric. The first class meets for one hour; a supply list will be furnished that night. This course is an introduction to creating pottery by the hand build method. The core outcome of the class will be for students to complete the hand build pottery process including glazing and firing. Participants can take advantage two days each week in the studio to maximize experience. Pottery clay and glaze are included in fees; students will need to purchase a set of basic pottery tools for personal use. Class size is limited. (Minimum of eight)

Learn how to carve and sculpt birds from wood using the power tool method. The course is taught using realistic style techniques in a simplified step-by-step manner from the carving stage to the finished painted stage. The first class will meet for one hour for registration, supply list review and project discussion. The fee includes the blank for carving the bird. (Minimum of 10)

Floral Arranging/Live Flowers-NB

 

Learn different designs such as classic, naturalistic and abstract. Throughout this class, an experienced floral designer will teach a wide variety of arrangements. The flowers, most greenery, foam, some containers, ribbon, wires and tape will be furnished. At the first class, the teacher will discuss remaining supplies that will be needed. (Minimum of eight)

Fused Glass (Basics of Fused Glass)-NB

 

This class includes the basics of fused glass including safety procedures. There will be some 3-D work done by students, but molds will not be involved. This class will not be themed; students will create a number of practice pieces in the first six weeks to become familiar with processes and materials. The last two weeks will be spent using what they have learned to create one or two final pieces. Glass supplies will be furnished in class. Students will need to provide most of the hand tools.
