Anyone interested in applying for either program
should try to attend one of these sessions.

Overview

Craven Community College offers both the Associate Degree and Practical Nursing programs.

The Associate Degree Nursing curriculum prepares individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide nursing care to clients and groups of clients throughout the live span in a variety of settings. Courses will include content related to the nurse's role as provider of care, as manager of care, as member of the discipline of nursing, and as a member of the interdisciplinary team. Graduate of this program are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN), which is required for practice as a Registered Nurse. Employment opportunities include hospitals, long-term care facilities, clinics, physicians' offices, industry, and community agencies.

The Practical Nursing curriculum prepares individuals with the knowledge and skill to provide nursing care to children and adults. Students will participate in assessment, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care. Graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN), which is required for practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Employment opportunities include hospitals, rehabilitation/long term care/home health facilities, clinics and physicians' offices.
